Summary: Ptolemy Grey is 91-years old and all but forgotten by everyone, except for his grand-nephew. When his nephew is killed in a drive-by shooting, he meets Robyn, his niece's 17-year-old lodger who won't tolerate Ptolemy's hermit-like existence. She challenges him to interact with the world around him, and as a result he meets a doctor touting an experimental drug that guarantees that he'll spend his last days in feverish vigor and clarity. With his mind clear, Ptolemy learns the circumstances of his nephew's death and is shocked enough to be spurred into action.
